Biography
25 ASE Certifications
Zack holds 25 ASE certifications, including ASE Master Automobile (A1-A9), Master Medium/Heavy Truck (T1-T8), and Advanced Level Specialist (L1-L4), making him one of the most broadly certified automotive instructors in the country. That breadth means students aren't learning theory from a textbook; they're learning diagnostics and repair from someone who has proven mastery across virtually every vehicle system.
From Job Corps Student to Lead Instructor
Zack is a Clearfield Job Corps graduate himself. After completing the automotive program as a student, he returned to the very center where his career began and has now spent over 15 years as an instructor: first building and coordinating the Toyota T-TEN program, and now delivering the Mercedes-Benz DRIVE curriculum. That full-circle journey gives him a unique understanding of what students need to succeed.
OEM Curriculum Development
As Toyota T-TEN Program Coordinator, Zack directed a team of instructors through the development and accreditation of more than 4,000 instructional hours of curriculum, working directly with Toyota Motor Corporation and NATEF (now ASEEF). That experience gives him an exceptional ability to translate OEM standards into effective classroom and shop instruction, which is exactly what the Mercedes-Benz DRIVE program demands.
Technical Edge
Zack also holds three degrees, including a B.S. in Computer Science from Weber State University (3.54 GPA), which sharpens his approach to modern vehicle diagnostics, electronic systems, and the increasingly software-driven architecture of today's Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
Real-World Shop Experience
Before teaching full-time, Zack worked as a technician in dealership, independent, and fleet environments, from Dodge dealership service departments to engine diagnostic shops. That range of real-world experience means he can prepare graduates for whatever environment they land in, whether it's a high-volume service center or a specialized repair facility.
