15+ Years of Industry Experience
Edgar brings over 15 years of hands-on automotive experience spanning dealership service departments, independent repair shops, and retail service center management. That combination gives him rare insight into both the technical demands and the professional expectations graduates will face from the moment they step onto a dealership floor.
Education & Formal Training
A UTI graduate with a 4.0 GPA, Edgar completed specialized training in California SMOG diagnostics and the Nissan/Infiniti Automotive Program. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in English from Fresno State University (3.80 GPA), a background that makes him equally effective at breaking down complex systems for students as he is at diagnosing them under the hood.
ASE & Manufacturer Certifications
Edgar carries ASE certifications in Brakes (A5), Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6), Engine Performance (A8), and Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1), along with multiple California SMOG Inspector and Repair Technician licenses and Nissan Advanced Technician Training credentials in Electrical, Engines/Chassis/Suspensions, and Transmissions/Climate Control.
From the Shop to the Classroom
Before joining MB Drive JC in 2023, Edgar spent five years as a Diagnostic and Repair Technician and previously managed retail service centers at Big O Tires and Midas Auto. That experience taught him firsthand what dealerships and service managers expect from entry-level hires and how to prepare students to exceed those expectations from day one.
Bilingual Instruction
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Edgar ensures every student in the program receives clear, thorough instruction regardless of background, removing language barriers so that nothing stands between a motivated student and a successful career.
